Kate Sheppard Place Women 2019 Code of Conduct

Kate Sheppard Place Women is committed to providing a friendly, safe and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, or religion. This Code of Conduct outlines our expectations for participant behaviour, and applies to all volunteers, speakers, performers and attendees.

We do not tolerate harassment in any form. Harassment includes, but is not limited to, offensive comments and actions that reinforce social structures of domination related to gender, expression, age, sexual orientation, physical appearance, race, disability, ethnicity, and religion. It also includes displaying sexual images, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography, disruption of events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention, or advocating for or encouraging any of the aforementioned behaviour.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, or any other behaviour that makes other attendees feel unsafe, event organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. Anyone asked to cease such behaviour is expected to do so immediately. If a participant engages in unacceptable behaviour, the event organisers may take any action they deem appropriate, up to and including expulsion from the event without warning or refund.

If you are subjected to unacceptable behaviour, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behaviour, or have any other concerns, please notify a KSPW team member as soon as possible. You may request that your report remain completely confidential.

You can also contact us after the event via email at hello@kspw.nz if you want to report unacceptable behaviour or have any other concerns.

The KSPW team will be happy to provide escorts or to otherwise assist those experiencing unacceptable behaviour to feel safe for the duration of the event.

We hope you will join us in making KSPW19 a safe and positive experience for everyone.
